Isaiah 3 is a sobering chapter. It describes Judah and Jerusalem losing the people and institutions that once gave public life strength, direction, and restraint. The result is not presented as an accident of politics or economics. Isaiah treats it as a judgment from God on a people who had become proud, unjust, and openly rebellious.

The chapter also gives a durable warning: a society cannot remain healthy merely by preserving outward structures. It needs trustworthy leaders, wise counsel, productive work, justice for the vulnerable, and, above all, a people willing to live under God’s moral authority.
